To prevent metal oxidation, an anti-corrosion primer will come in handy. This one-component material is ready to use and does not require additional mixing or activation. If applying by a spray gun, a solvent will be needed.
Based on alkyd resin, the primer dries quickly while filling in small defects. It is easy to sand and can be applied on polyester dry putties, creating a barrier between them and base coats.
For steel, it can be sanded with P80-120 grit sandpaper without adding water, while a special scotch-bright fiber is preferred for aluminum. For putties, P120-240 grit sandpaper is needed, and for old paint, sanding with a grain size of P240-280 is recommended.
The anti-corrosion primer is convenient as it can be applied in different ways. A spray gun is more suitable for a car, but a brush or roller can be used for smaller surfaces. The coating is not sensitive to low temperatures after drying. One liter of primer covers 5-7 m² of surface.
The layers dry in half an hour at a temperature of + 20 … + 23 °C. The total time spent using the anti-corrosion primer and letting it dry between layers is 2 hours.
