Emulsion glass mat becomes a strong, reinforcing material that can partially replace welding work during body repair. Polyester resin reliably binds randomly arranged thin fibers. It will be useful in the case of through corrosion, the need to create matrices of sections of three-dimensional structures instead of damaged ones.
In the course of the work, a tandem of polymer resin and glass mat is used, which can become a budget solution for repairing bumpers, pads, and spoilers. The hardened composition withstands the load, the force of air flows at high speeds and contact with chemicals. To increase strength, fillers and plasticizers are used.
A glass mat is applied to the cleaned and anti-rust treated repair area and several patches are cut out, each of which is larger than the previous one by approximately 15-20 mm. The slightly deepened hole is smeared with resin and the first patch is applied. It should be pressed and achieved so that it tightly adheres to the metal. You need to wait a few minutes for the interaction of materials to activate.
This is done 3-4 times, each new piece is attached to the glue. Then the repair place is covered with putty with fiberglass. The hardened surface is sanded, and universal putty is spread over it. After its grinding, the process of preparation for painting begins.
