PLASTIC PRIMER

Using a primer helps create conditions for quality paint application and good adhesion in the future. Abrasion with an abrasive cloth up to P1000 grit is performed, followed by application of a primer.

Initially, the treated area or part is wiped with a degreaser. An antistatic agent will remove the effect of rapid accumulation of dust and small suspensions that are present in the air. Priming is carried out layer by layer, up to 4 times, with intermediate drying for 15 minutes.

An aerosol 1-component mixture is considered less effective than a professional 2-component one. The filling function is suitable for leveling the microrelief of the part, while the finishing function is intended for preparing for painting.

Acrylic and epoxy primer products require a hardener, while alkyd analogues are applied in the form of a ready-to-spray substance. The use of plasticizers facilitates more convenient application of the composition.

Is it possible to do without primer on plastic? Yes, but after a few washes of the car, you will see paint peeling on the hood and trunk. This is explained by the weak adhesion of the finishing product to the polymer base. Is it worth saving if you have to repaint the body part after that? Only the correct approach to primer application will provide the desired result.
