Lightweight filler is a good solution in cases where the weight of the applied material is important. The weight of the two-component polyester composition is on average 1/3 lighter than the conventional analog. Imagine the difference if you are restoring a piece of furniture or a car trunk that requires a significant layer of preparation material.
The reduced weight is provided by a filler made of small glass beads with internal voids. When applied densely, they burst and form a uniform coating layer.
The quality of the filler depends on its ability to dry evenly. It spreads well, forms a smooth surface without pores or scratches, helps to level minor imperfections, is suitable for most substrates, is economical, and withstands loads well after hardening. It can be sanded easily and adds a small amount of weight, which is important when restoring paint and varnish compositions for ground, air, and water transport, which have to overcome wind forces.
The use of the filler in places where food and water products are located is prohibited.
The surface that has gone through the filling stage is sanded with sandpaper with the following grit size: P60 – for primary paint and varnish coating (sanding is done to the upper layer of metal), steel, cast iron, and wood; P40 – for fiberglass.
