Fiberglass putty is used in cases where not only significant scratches need to be removed, but also through-holes that have formed as a result of rust. It is capable of restoring the former shape of the dented areas of the car.
The resin is the basic element of the composition, responsible for the rapid polymerization of the layers. The crushed glass fiber particles are selected as a filler and perform the function of reinforcement, providing special strength. The hardened composition does not crack and does not create a shrinkage process.
The low plasticity of the fiberglass putty is necessary so that the mixture does not spread and forms the desired configuration. The volatile solvent evaporates after application, which makes the mixture viscous and helps it to harden quickly. It is not suitable for repairing parts that are subject to vibration or have curved shapes.
To initiate a chemical reaction in which the putty is transformed into a homogeneous coating, a hardener is used. It is thoroughly mixed with the main product. The components are combined before using the putty. The material does not spread, as the glass fiber immediately hardens in the mixture.
Working with this putty requires experience or the assistance of someone who has worked with the product before.
